OCAS offers individual advanced trainings for forensic interviews on areas such as interviewing children with disabilities, trauma and the forensic interview, the use of tools, and the introduction of evidence during an interview. Improving on your interviewing skills can help increase your effectiveness in working with children. Through recorded observations, feedback, and discussions, you’ll have an excellent opportunity to learn how to be your best with children from many backgrounds.

ELIGIBILITY
This advanced training topics series is designed for Forensic Interviewers who are currently conducting interviews at a Children’s Advocacy Center (CAC). Those interested in participating in this training series must have successfully completed the Oregon Child Forensic Interview Training (OCFIT) between 2013 and the present timeframe.
Please note that individuals who are not conducting interviews at children’s advocacy centers do not qualify for attendance at this training opportunity.
COST
This training costs $150. Tuition can also be paid online or by check and must be received before the registration deadline for the it to be considered.
HOTEL & MEALS
For in-person trainings, Participants are responsible for their own travel expenses, including the hotel rooms. Water, coffee, and snacks will be provided during the training. Participants will have an hour and a half free for lunch to grab food near the hotel. Please do NOT book your hotel room until you have received notice that you have been accepted into the training. At that time, you will receive a booking link with the discounted group room rate.

This training provides participants with foundational knowledge and instruction on the practical application of tools during the forensic interview, including but not limited to: mapping, drawing, and discussion of outside evidence. Tools that a child/adolescent may offer or bring into the interview (journals, cell phones, etc.) will also be covered.
This training expands on the information about trauma presented in OCFIT with topics including but not limited to: childhood traumatic stress, trauma effects at each stage of development, how trauma presents during the interview, and interviewer response.
An advanced forensic interview training designed to increase the interviewer’s comfort and confidence to work effectively with children with disabilities when there is a concern of abuse or victimization. Learn the disability and abuse risk factors; identify the categories of disability that impact functioning, and explore the characteristics of, and the interview accommodations for children within four main categories of disabilities.
