Session Overview
Working in Indian Country requires respectful engagement with sovereign nations. We’ve identified three broad categories that are important to consider when partnering or developing CAC/MDTs: sovereignty, institutions, and culture. This session will unpack these three areas, providing concrete examples and time for participants to reflect on next steps and questions to learn from Native nations.

Presenter Bio
Deanna Chancellor is the project director of the Native Child Advocacy Resource Center. She is a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and lives on her reservation in rural Southeastern Oklahoma. She joined NNCTC in 2023 after serving 18 years as the Director of the Leflore County, Oklahoma, Child Advocacy Center and Women’s Crisis Services. She has extensive experience providing training and technical assistance related to all aspects of child advocacy centers including development, accreditation, cultural adaptations, and secondary trauma.
